Job Title: Communications Intern
Job Summary: The Communications Intern will play a key role in supporting ITANB's marketing and communications efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of communications, including digital marketing, content creation, event planning, and member engagement. The intern will work closely with the Executive Director and project team to promote ITANB's initiatives and enhance the association’s visibility and outreach.
Key Responsibilities:
The Communications Intern will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following key responsibilities:
- Develop content for ITANB's website, social media channels, newsletters, and other communication platforms.
- Assist in the creation of promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, and presentations.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communications.
- Support in the management of ITANB's social media accounts, including scheduling posts, engaging with followers, and monitoring analytics.
- Promote ITANB members through social media content, highlighting their unique offerings and achievements.
- Support the development of ITANB’s brand as a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO).
- Support the planning and execution of ITANB events, including workshops, conferences, and networking sessions.
- Work with the Executive Director and project team to develop event communication strategies and promotional plans.
- Assist in developing and distributing communications to ITANB members and partners, including newsletters, updates, and invitations.
- Support the management of member and partner databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from members and partners in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist with other tasks and projects that contribute to the overall success of ITANB and its members.
Education/Experience/Requirements
- Must have completed a degree or diploma within the last 3 years, preferably in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing tools is an asset.
- Creative thinking and ability to develop engaging content.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Knowledge of First Nations in New Brunswick and its governance is an asset.
- Experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
- Candidate must be willing to occasionally travel and work outside regular business hours as needed.
- Candidate must be an Indigenous person to qualify for the internship, with preference given to individuals from New Brunswick First Nation communities.
Working Conditions

- 5-day work week; 40 hours/week
